The 2024 Sportage is powered by three powertrains; the base engine is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 187 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque, the 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder hybrid engine with 227 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque and plug in version of the 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder hybrid engine that has a combined 261 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque.

The base 2.5L engine is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission while the hybrid and hybrid powertrain is fitted to a six-speed automatic transmission. The base engine is adequate for around-town driving, but it feels underpowered for most other situations. It takes about 9.5 seconds to reach highway speeds of 60 mph.

The 2024 Sportage handles well on the road and provides an engaging driving experience. The steering wheel is well weighted, easy, and accurate and the brakes are smooth and responsive.
