The Acura MDX is a luxury three-row mid-size SUV that has been in production since 2000. It is the second best-selling mid-size luxury SUV in the US after the Lexus RX. The MDX combines luxury, performance, technology, and safety in a well-rounded package. The 2024 model has no significant changes from the 2023 model.

The 2024 Acura MDX comes in six trim levels MDX, Technology, A-Spec, Advance, Type S, and Type S Advance.

2024 Acura MDX Interior

The 2024 MDX has an upscale and spacious cabin that can seat up to seven passengers in three rows. The front seats are very comfortable with plenty of legroom, headroom, and shoulder room. The second-row seats are equally comfortable and can accommodate a six-foot adult. The rear seats, however, are cramped and best suited for children. Access to the third row is easy thanks to a second row that unfolds at the touch of a button.

The 2024 MDX comes standard with a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment display, a touchpad controller, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, a Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless device charging, a nine-speaker audio system, satellite radio, HD Radio, USB ports, and Bluetooth.

Tri-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a universal garage door opener, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, and a panoramic moonroof are also standard.

Available features on the 2024 MDX include navigation, additional USB ports, remote start, LED ambient interior lighting, an in-cabin intercom system, and a 12-, 16- or 25-speaker ELS premium audio system.

The Acura MDX has a handsome exterior design that attracts attention wherever it goes. The front end features four-element jewel-eye LED headlamps, a multi-faceted diamond pentagon grille, and chicane LED daytime running lights.

More attractive than ever, an extended bonnet creates a ‘cab-back’ stance, accentuated by a choice of bold alloy wheel designs. A stunning character line runs the length of the MDX, culminating confidently at the rear.

The 2024 MDX also features chicane LED taillights, LED integrated turn signals in the heated side mirrors, a power lift tailgate, and a panoramic moonroof with slide and tilt functions.

With all three rows in use, trunk space comes in at 16.3 cubic feet. With the 50/50-split third row folded flat, the space behind the second row measures 39.1 cu-ft. With the 40/20/40-split second row also folded, maximum cargo space comes in at 71.4.

The 2024 Acura MDX offers customers two powertrain options; the standard engine is a 3.5-liter V6 that delivers 290 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque and the turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 with 355 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are mated to a 10-speed transmission.

The 3.5L engine is reasonably powerful and can handle most everyday driving situations, though it isn’t particularly thrilling; it accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in about 6.5 seconds. The turbocharged 3.0L engine is much friskier and accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in about 5.5 seconds.

On the pavement, the 2024 MDX offers an exciting driving experience thanks to its responsive steering that has been set up with a pleasing directness.

The SUV feels firmly planted to the road and absorbs bumps well with its well-tuned suspension system, and its tight turning radius makes navigating tight parking lots less stressful.

The 2024 MDX’s brakes, on the other hand, have been criticized by owners for feeling squishy, with long pedal travel and weak feedback.

2024 Acura MDX Reliability

According to JD Power, the 2024 MDX has a quality and reliability rating of 79 out of 100 which is considered average.

Consumer Reports predicts the 2024 Acura MDX to be more reliable than the average new car, based on the brand’s history which is part of the Honda family.

The 2024 Acura MDX comes with a four-year/50,000-mile basic warranty and a six-year/70,000-mile powertrain warranty.

2024 Acura MDX Maintenance Schedule

The 2024 MDX’s first service interval should be at 7500 miles. At this interval, technicians should inspect the air cleaner filter, the A/C compressor, and the A/C refrigerant, inspect the battery condition, inspect the brake lines, hoses, and connectors, inspect the exhaust pipe and muffler, inspect the front brake disc/pads and calipers, inspect the rear brake disc/pads, inspect the steering gear, linkage and boots/lower arm ball joint, upper arm ball joint, inspect the suspension mounting bolts, inspect the vacuum hose, change the engine oil and filter, and rotate the tires.

The second service should be taken at 15000 miles and Acura technicians will change the rear differential fluid, change the engine oil, inspect the brake system, inspect the exhaust system, inspect brake lines, hoses & connectors, inspect the cooling system hoses & connectors, inspect the fuel lines, hoses & connectors, inspect parking brake, inspect suspension components, inspect steering rack, linkage & boots, inspect boots & seals drive axles, replace oil filter and rotate wheels & tires.

Once the 2024 MDX reaches 30,000 miles, the services listed in the 15,000-mile service should be repeated in addition to air/cabin filter replacement, fluid replacement, and inspection and replacement of spark plugs, brake pads, and tires as needed.
