2024 Kia Sportage Performance

Three powertrains power the 2024 Sportage; the base engine is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 187 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque, the 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder hybrid engine with 227 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque and plug-in version of the 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder hybrid engine that has a combined 261 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque.

The base 2.5L engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the hybrid and hybrid powertrain is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The base engine is adequate for city driving, but it feels underpowered for most other situations. It takes about 9.5 seconds to reach 60 mph on the highway.

The 2024 Sportage handles well on the road and provides an engaging driving experience. The steering wheel is well weighted, light, and precise, and the brakes are smooth and responsive.
